CTA bus routes will be detoured off North Michigan Avenue on Saturday, November 22 for the annual Magnificent Mile Lights Festival. The festival motorcade is scheduled to step off at 6 p.m. from Rush and Oak and will travel south on Michigan Avenue to Wacker Drive.
Immediately following the parade will be a fireworks display which will be visible along the Chicago River between Michigan Avenue and Columbus Drive.
Bus Service
In anticipation of large crowds for the event, more frequent bus service will be provided on the #3 King Drive, #6 Jackson Park Express, #14 Jeffery Express, #22 Clark, #62 Archer, #66 Chicago, #70 Division, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan routes.
Michigan Avenue will be closed to traffic in both directions between Oak and Randolph starting at 5 p.m. and is expected to re-open at approximately 8 p.m. As a result the #3 King Drive, #6 Jackson Park Express, #10 Museum of Science & Industry, #36 Broadway, #66 Chicago, #70 Division, #124 Navy Pier, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan will undergo the following temporary reroutes:
Northbound #3 King Drive buses will operate via Michigan, Randolph, Columbus, Fairbanks to Erie where they will begin southbound trips via Fairbanks, Columbus, Randolph to Michigan, then resume the regular route.
Northbound #6 Jackson Park Express buses will operate via Michigan, Randolph, Dearborn, Wacker and State where they will begin southbound trips via Wacker, State and then resume the regular route.
Northbound #10 Museum of Science & Industry buses will operate via State to Wacker, Dearborn, Chicago to Clark where they will begin southbound trips via Wacker to State, then resume the regular route.
Southbound #36 Broadway buses will operate via Clark, Chicago, State and then resume the regular route. Northbound buses will operate via Dearborn, Walton, Clark, Division and then resume their regular route.
Eastbound #66 Chicago buses will operate via Chicago, Clark, Illinois and Fairbanks, then resume the regular route. Westbound buses will operate via Grand, Dearborn and Chicago, then resume their regular route.
Eastbound #124 Navy Pier buses will operate via Washington, Wacker to South Water and then resume their regular route. Westbound buses will operate via Grand, Columbus, Randolph to Michigan, then resume their regular route.
Eastbound #70 Division buses will operate via Division, LaSalle, North, Clark, Division and then resume their regular route.
Southbound #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan buses will operate via Lake Shore, LaSalle Drive, Clark, Wacker, State to Washington, then resume the regular route. Southbound #146 and #151 buses will continue on State.
Northbound buses will operate via State, Wacker, Dearborn, Walton, Clark to LaSalle Drive where #145, #146 and #147 buses will continue to Lake Shore Drive and #151 buses will continue on Stockton, then resume the regular route.
Rail Service
More frequent service will be provided on the Red Line. Longer trains will operate on the Pink, Brown and Orange lines.
CTA will operate a bus shuttle for Blue Line customers traveling through the Dearborn subway to head downtown because service between the Clark/Lake and Division Blue Line subway stations will be temporarily suspended in order for crews to install a new signal and train control system. Blue Line customers are advised to allow extra travel time.
