Experimental Lake Shore Drive Corridor Route Changes Implemented Last Year

The Chicago Transit Authority will hold a public hearing to present its proposal to permanently adopt service changes for bus routes along North Lake Shore Drive. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 29 at Temple Sholom in the Bettie Port Hall, located at 3480 N. Lake Shore Drive. The facility is accessible to people with disabilities.

Implemented in August 2003, the changes were designed to provide faster travel times, new and extended express service, less crowded buses, improved east-west service connections, expanded express service hours and fewer transfers.

The affected routes serving the north portion of Lake Shore Drive are: #134 Stockton/LaSalle Express, #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express, #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express, #143 Stockton/Michigan Express, #144 Marine/Michigan Express, #145 Wilson/Michigan Express, #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express, #147 Outer Drive Express, #148 Clarendon/Michigan Express, #151 Sheridan and #156 LaSalle.

Throughout the course of the experimental period, adjustments were made to more effectively meet the needs of customers along the North Lake Shore Drive corridor.

The public has until Tuesday, August 3 to comment on the proposal by writing to Chicago Transit Authority, P.O. Box 3555, Chicago, IL 60654, Attention: Gregory Longhini, Assistant Secretary. E-mail comments may also be submitted by Tuesday, August 3 by emailing [email protected].
