CTA Provides Convenient Service to Airports for Holiday Travelers

December 22, 2010
NOTE:  CTA buses and trains will operate on a normal weekday schedule on Friday, December 24 – Christmas Eve. On Saturday, December 25 – Christmas Day – CTA will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule.

Holiday travelers can improve travel time and avoid the stress of driving by using the economical and convenient service CTA provides to O’Hare International and Midway airports.

Those heading to O’Hare Airport can reach the airport in approximately 40 – 45 minutes from the Clark/Lake station in the Loop.  Elevated rail customers can transfer to the Blue Line for no additional charge at the Clark/Lake station.  Red Line customers can connect to the Blue Line by using the free pedestrian transfer tunnel at Jackson.

Also, customers can transfer to the Blue Line from all east-west bus routes between Grand and Foster, and from many north-south bus routes.

CTA’s Orange Line trains provide direct service to Midway Airport.   From downtown, travel time is approximately 26 minutes. In the Loop, most rail customers can transfer to Orange Line trains at the Clark/Lake station for no charge.  Red Line customers can transfer to the Orange Line at the Roosevelt station at no extra charge.

CTA also maintains Park & Ride facilities for those who wish to combine the convenience of driving and taking public transportation. Parking is available for approximately 6,000 cars at CTA’s 17 Park & Ride facilities, mainly at rail terminals, throughout the CTA system.

Park & Ride stations are listed on CTA’s system map and on the CTA’s website at www.transitchicago.com. Customers may also obtain information on Park & Ride facilities by calling 312-836-7000.
