Patrick Daly, the Chicago Transit Authority's General Manager of Security, has been promoted to Vice President of Security and Training. Since joining the CTA in March 2004, Daly has coordinated police and security functions at the CTA, including developing strategies aimed at providing a safe environment for CTA customers and employees. In his new position, Mr. Daly will also oversee the operation of the CTA's Control Center and direct the CTA's training programs for operating, maintenance and service personnel.

"Patrick Daly has a very impressive mix of skills, experience and contacts at all levels of law enforcement. Broadening his responsibilities will allow us to better use the wide range of talents that he brings," said CTA President Frank Kruesi.

Daly, a retired FBI agent, represents the CTA on the Executive Board of the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, and serves on the Executive Board of Cook County Crime Stoppers.

He also serves on the CTA's Committee to Reduce Loss. This group includes managers from Rail Operations, Treasury/Collections and Security Services who develop strategies for specific investigations of lost revenue and employee performance and propose steps to be taken to avoid loss.

Daly started with the FBI in 1982. Prior to his retirement, he was the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's San Juan field office, supervising operations in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. While serving in the Chicago bureau in the 1990's, he ran the Terrorism, Counterintelligence and Violent Crime programs. He also was responsible for setting up the local command center to respond to the September 11, 2001 attacks. Daly has taught courses for bomb technicians at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. And he assisted in processing the crime scenes following the Oklahoma City bombing and the first attack on the World Trade Center in New York City.

Daly is a member of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS), Illinois Security Chiefs Association, Fraternal Order of Police, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators.

Daly holds a bachelor's degree with majors in criminal justice and Spanish from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is currently pursing a master's degree in public services from DePaul University.
