As General Counsel, Ms. Papushkewych will manage and direct the activities of the General Attorney Division related to contracts or agreements to be entered into by the CTA; provide counsel in consultation with the Chairman; and meet with officials from local and state governmental agencies involving matters and legislation affecting the CTA.

Prior to her appointment, Perona served as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. During her tenure, she was involved in the prosecution of thousands of felony cases, including more than 50 jury trials, involving financial crimes, property crimes and violent crimes.

Perona earned her law degree from DePaul University College of Law. She holds a bachelor of science in English education from Illinois State University.

Starting dates for both positions is June 1, 2004.
