The Chicago Transit Authority has adjusted service on several routes affected by the experimental restructuring of bus service along the Lake Shore Drive corridor which began last August. The CTA is focusing on strategically reconfiguring service to meet customer needs while keeping cost to a minimum. The changes went into effect June 20 and June 21 and are performing as expected.
The changes are:
#6 Jackson Park Express buses now operate 30 minutes later on weekdays in both directions. The last two northbound buses to downtown depart 79th/South Shore Drive at 12:18 a.m. and 12:33 a.m. The last two southbound buses to 79th/South Shore Drive depart Wacker/Columbus at 1:15 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.
#14 Jeffery Express buses now operate 30 minutes earlier on weekend and holiday mornings. On Saturdays, the first northbound bus leaves 103rd/Stony Island at 7 a.m. The first southbound bus leaves downtown at Washington/Jefferson at 8:20 a.m. On Sundays and holidays, the first bus downtown leaves 103rd/Stony Island at 8 a.m. The first southbound bus leaves downtown at 9:15 am.
Additionally, southbound #14 buses also operate 30 minutes later on weekdays with the last two buses leaving downtown at 10:41 p.m. and 10:55 p.m. Northbound weekday service has not changed.
#26 South Shore Express buses now operate 30 minutes earlier in the afternoon with service every 12 minutes. The first bus departs Chicago/Michigan at 2:50 p.m. Additionally two more buses now leave downtown between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
#30 South Chicago buses now operate northbound and southbound on Houston instead of Buffalo between 91st and 92nd Streets to better serve customers and the community.
#87 87th buses now operate westbound on 91st Street instead of 92nd Street between Buffalo and Commercial to better serve customers.
#91 Austin buses now operate earlier on Sundays and holidays with the first southbound bus leaving Jefferson Park to Roosevelt/Austin at 7:45 a.m. The first northbound bus leaves Roosevelt/Austin to Jefferson Park at 8:25 a.m.
#156 LaSalle buses now operate 12 minutes earlier weekday mornings with the fist bus leaving Belmont/Halsted at 5:17 a.m.
