The Clark/Division station renovation is complete!

Announced in January 2012, by the CTA and the City of Chicago’s Department of Transportation (CDOT), the project included modernizing and upgrading the existing stationhouse’s platform, station interiors and mezzanine and a new, accessible entry mezzanine at LaSalle.

The LaSalle entrance (at LaSalle/Division) was the first new mezzanine on the Red Line subway since it (along with this station) opened in 1943 and this project was the first major renovation of the station since that time.

Improvements & new amenities

Here are some highlights of what the project will bring to users of the Clark/Division station:

  • New wall and ceiling architectural finishes
  • Three new escalators (one at Clark, two at LaSalle) and two new elevators (at LaSalle)
  • New ornamental cast iron street-level stair and escalator enclosures
  • Granite floors and stairs
  • Energy efficient lighting
  • New fare collection equipment
  • State-of-the-art communication and security equipment
  • New signage
  • Bike ramps and racks in the mezzanines
