The Chicago Transit Board honored bus operator Earl Miles with the 'spirit of Chicago? award at its monthly meeting today. The award is given to Chicago Transit Authority personnel in recognition of exemplary customer service performance.

"The Spirit of Chicago award is a tangible way to show our appreciation for the efforts of CTA personnel," said Chicago Transit Board Chairman Carole Brown. ?We are pleased to honor Mr. Miles today for his professionalism and politeness during his interactions with CTA customers."

Miles, a 28-year CTA employee, was honored for spreading cheer and goodwill every day to customers onboard his #157 Streeterville bus route which serves the Near West Loop, Central Business District and Streeterville neighborhood just off Chicago's Magnificent Mile.

As customers board his bus, Miles greets them with a jovial and friendly demeanor. Along the route, he engages the customers in song, including birthday songs for those celebrating birthdays and seasonal holiday songs.

?We are proud to call Mr. Miles one of our own," said CTA President Frank Kruesi. ?His enthusiasm while on duty contributes to the overall transit experience for our customers."
