The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), in partnership with EXP, an architectural and engineering firm, and contractor Walsh-Fluor Design-Build Team, today announced the temporary Red Line station at Bryn Mawr received the international Architecture MasterPrize award in the “Transportation” category and the Garfield Green Line station, also designed by EXP and built by Walsh Construction, won the international BLT Built Design Award in the “Bridges and Public Architecture” category. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has received one of AIA Illinois’s highest architectural honors for the transformative renovation of its historic Garfield Green Line station. The 2021 AIA Illinois’ Greatest Impact Award noted how the rail station combines form and function with art and architecture, making it a welcoming gateway to the Washington Park community on Chicago’s south side. Chicago Transit Board Chairman Terry Peterson Successfully Concludes 11-Year Tenure 08/12/2020

The Chicago Transit Board today honored Chairman Terry Peterson for nearly 11 years of service to the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and its customers. Chairman Peterson was originally appointed to the post on October 9, 2009 and his term will conclude on September 1, 2020. He is the longest-tenured Board chairman in the history of the agency. Construction Continues on Garfield Gateway Project; Five Green Line Stations Temporarily Closed Next Two Weekends 09/11/2018

Over the next two weekends, CTA will install the steel structure needed to support the new canopy over the tracks. In order to facilitate this work, all stations south of 51st Street – Garfield, Cottage Grove, King Drive, Halsted and Ashland/63rd – will be closed during the weekends of Sept. 15-17 and Sept. 22-24.
