Red Line – Other Events Affecting Service
Two-Phase Single Track in Effect Wednesday Night on Dan Ryan Branch
A two-phase late night single track will be in effect for northbound Red Line trains between the 95th Street and 79th Street stations from 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 until 4 a.m. the following morning, due to track maintenance.
Phase I – 95th Street to 87th Street
From 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 until 1 a.m. the following morning, northbound Red Line customers at the 87th Street station must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Phase II – 95th Street to 79th Street
From 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, northbound Red Line customers at the 87th Street and 79th Street stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers are advised to allow extra travel time. CTA operators will announce the direction of each train.
New/Updated Changes in Bus Service
Two Routes Detoured for Water Main Repairs on South Shore Drive
South Shore Drive between 72nd Street and 73rd Street will be closed to all traffic from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day on Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28, due to water main repairs.
Southbound #6 Jackson Park Express and #26 South Shore Express buses will travel over their regular routes along 71st Street to Coles then will operate via Coles, 74th Street to South Shore Drive and then resume their regular routes. Northbound #6 and #26 buses will travel the reverse route.
#21 Cermak Buses Detoured for the 37th Annual Fiesta del Sol Festival
Cermak Road will be closed between Morgan and Loomis from 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 29 until 12 p.m. Monday, August 3, for the 37th Annual Fiesta del Sol Festival.
Eastbound #21 Cermak buses will operate over the regular route along Cermak to Ashland then will travel via Ashland, 18th Street, Halsted to Cermak and then resume the regular route. Westbound #21 buses will travel the reverse route.
Bus Stop Changes for #81 Lawrence
Effective at the start of service on Wednesday, July 29, the westbound far side stop at Lawrence/Oakley will be returned to a near side stop.
Changes to Bus Stops Effective Thursday, July 30
At the start of service on Thursday, July 30, the following changes will be made to bus stops along the subsequent bus routes:
#7 Harrison
The eastbound near side stop at Harrison/California will be relocated to a far side stop.
#9 Ashland
Southbound #9 Ashland buses will begin serving the new near side bus stop at Ashland/Congress.
#38 Ogden/Taylor
- Taylor/Desplaines: the eastbound far side stop and the westbound near side stop will be removed from service.
- Taylor/Clinton: the eastbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
- Clinton/Vernon Park: the westbound far side stop will be removed from service.
- Clinton/Arthington: the westbound far side stop will be removed from service.
- Taylor/Jefferson: the westbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
- Taylor/Halsted: the westbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
#50 Damen
- Damen/Adams: the northbound and southbound near side stops will be relocated to far side stops.
- Damen/Monroe: the northbound and southbound near side stops will be removed from service.
- Damen/Washington: the southbound near side stop will be relocated to a far side stop.
- Damen/Warren: the southbound near side stop will be removed from service.
Bus Stop Changes for #24 Wentworth and #152 Addison Buses
Effective with the start of service on Friday, July 31, the following bus stop changes will be made:
#24 Wentworth
The southbound near side stop at Wentworth/Marquette will be relocated to a far side stop.
#152 Addison
The eastbound near side stop at Addison/Halsted will be relocated to a far side stop.
