Eleven CTA bus routes will be rerouted temporarily due to the closure of Wacker Drive as the filming of “Transformers 3” continues downtown. The reroutes are in effect from 8 p.m. Friday, July 23 until approximately 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 27.
CTA recommends that customers whose routes normally travel along Wacker between State and Wabash allow extra travel time. Generally, most northbound and eastbound buses will move from Wacker to Washington and southbound and westbound buses to Randolph. The Red Line offers a convenient, nearby alternative to bus service.
The specific reroutes are as follows:
#2 Hyde Park Express and #10 Museum of Science & Industry – Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to State/Lake and then will operate via Lake to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
Southbound #2, #10 and #6 Jackson Park Express buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan/Wacker then will continue south on Michigan past Wacker to Randolph then operate via Randolph to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #6 buses are not impacted and will travel along the regular route.
#122 Illinois Center/Ogilvie Express and #123 Illinois Center/Union Express – Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Wacker/State then will continue on State and operate via State, Washington, Michigan, Randolph to Field where buses will wait until beginning the return trip westbound.
Westbound buses will leave from Randolph/Field then will operate via Randolph, State to Wacker and then resume the regular route.
#124 Navy Pier – Eastbound buses will travel over the regular route to Wacker/State then will operate via State, Washington, Michigan, Randolph, Columbus and then resume the regular route.
Westbound buses will operate over the regular route to Columbus past South Water then will operate via Columbus, Randolph to Michigan and then resume the regular route.
#134 Stockton/LaSalle Express, #135 Clarendon/LaSalle Express and #136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express – Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Wacker/Michigan then will operate via Michigan, Randolph, State to Wacker and then resume the regular route.
Northbound buses will travel over the regular route to Wacker/State then will operate via State, Washington, Michigan to Wacker and then resume the regular route.
#144 Marine/Michigan Express and #146 Inner/Drive Michigan Express – Southbound buses will travel over the regular route to Michigan past Wacker then will operate on Michigan to Randolph to State and then resume the regular route. Northbound #144 and #146 buses are not impacted and will travel along the regular route.
