New slide: State of Good Repair Needs CTA’s need for capital dollars is not unique. Transit agencies are struggling to maintain aging assets. Nationwide, $77 billion in deferred maintenance backlog. A graphic lists the multiple efficiencies that CTA has identified for the 2011 budget, which are as follows: Position Elimination $7.2 million, Strict Overtime Management $5.5 million, Unpaid Days and No Wage Increases $9.7million, Delayed Hiring $13.7 million, and Expenditure Reductions $17.5 million.
