Yellow Line Extension – Locally Preferred Alternative (Map)

The map shows the locally preferred alternative for the proposed extension of the Yellow Line from its current terminus near Dempster Street to the vicinity of Old Orchard Road.  

The map shows where the existing Yellow Line track ends at Dempster Street Station. The proposed track would proceed north within the Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way on an elevated structure.  

Just north of Golf Road, the track would curve east, paralleling the east side of Edens Expressway.  The tracks would end at a new terminal station on the south side of Old Orchard Road, east of Edens Expressway and in the northwest portion of the Niles North High School property.  

The map shows a new rebuilt Dempster Street Station centered above Dempster Street on an elevated alignment.
