Orange Line Extension – Locally Preferred Alternative (Map)

The map shows the locally preferred alternative for the proposed extension of the Orange Line from its current terminus near 59th and Cicero to the vicinity of Ford City Mall.

The map shows where the existing Orange Line track ends at 59th Street. The proposed track would proceed south along the Chicago Belt Railway right-of-way in a trench or at-grade before being elevated between 63rd Street and Marquette Road (67th Street) (with the potential for a future station at Marquette).

The tracks then would curve west south of Marquette to along Cicero Avenue, with a terminal south either on Cicero or closer to Ford City Mall at around 7600 South.
