Service Change
Full Description:
How does this affect my trip?
The #X28 Stony Island Express will be discontinued as a separate route, with service to Downtown and Union Station assumed by the revised #28 Stony Island.
The #28 Stony Island will be revised with certain rush period trips extended from Lake Park/47th to Union Station, replacing service previously provided by the #X28 Stony Island Express.
In addition, service on Lake Park between 57th and Hyde Park Blvd (5100S) will be discontinued. All #28 buses will operate in both directions via Lake Park, E Hyde Park Blvd (5100S), S Hyde Park Blvd (1700E), 57th Dr, 57th St, and Stony Island (the route of the #X28)
The revised #28 will operate approximately the same hours as the current #28 and #X28, from approx. 3:50am to 12:20am on weekdays, with service extended to Union Station from 5:50am to 9:30am and from 3:15pm to 6:35pm; approx. 4:05am to 12:30am on Saturdays; and approx. 4:05am – 12:30am on Sundays/Holidays.
Alternate service is available in the affected area on the revised #28 Stony Island and on the #6 Jackson Park Express. (Routes in bold will receive improved service frequencies.)
For more information on the service additions and changes, visit the Plan to Reduce Crowding page.
Why is service being changed?
Service is being changed to use existing resources to meet growing ridership needs and add bus and train service on high-demand routes across the entire CTA network as part of the Plan to Reduce Crowding.
