New Morgan Station
A new station is being constructed by the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) at Morgan/Lake on the Lake Street ‘L’, over which the CTA Green and Pink Lines operate. The new station will be between the Ashland and Clinton stations.
The station will provide easy access by ‘L’ to the booming West Loop area, and provide its residents and area workers with improved, direct access to and from the Loop, Oak Park and parts of Chicago’s West and South Sides.
This new station, with grant funding provided by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
Features will include:
- Elevator access to both platforms and other accessibility features, meeting Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessibility Standards
- Bright, wide platforms
- Stationhouses at street level with turnstiles and farecard vending machines
- Transfer bridge between platforms
- New signage, including Braille
- Ample bicycle parking at street level racks
- Security features including cameras
Construction will begin mid-2010 and is estimated to be completed in early 2012.
