On November 12, the Chicago Transit Board approved a $1.27 billion budget for 2010, which averted a fare increase due to an agreement brokered by Governor Quinn’s office. The budget proposes management efficiencies, elimination of more than 1,100 jobs and service reductions. However, the agreement between the State of Illinois, the Regional Transportation Authority and the CTA will provide enough funding for the next two years to allow the CTA to maintain current fares.

The Chicago Transit Authority is hosting a series of workshops to help vendors better understand CTA's procurement process and assist them in registering to do business in the CTA. Specifically, small and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) businesses are encouraged to attend.
