Be a Mystery Shopper!

The Mystery Shopping Program provides our customers with the opportunity to evaluate the quality of service provided by the CTA. With your help, the CTA will have a detailed understanding of our customer experience, allowing us to identify service issues that require immediate action and use customer feedback to make informed business decisions.

Who can be a Mystery Shopper?
You! This program is open to ALL CTA customers. It is our sincerest intent to attract a wide range of customers to participate in this effort. This program is voluntary and open to any CTA customer. All information will be used for the purpose of customer feedback.

How do I become a Mystery Shopper?
It’s really simple. Customers that are interested in participating can register by clicking here mysteryshopper@transitchicago.com or by calling 1-888-YOUR-CTA. When emailing us, please be sure to include your name and email address. Customers that email us will be sent the information electronically. If you prefer to have the information mailed, please call us and we will send the information to you.

What is the role of a Mystery Shopper?
Your role as a mystery shopper is to gather information and make observations that can help us serve you better. The mystery shopping activity will evaluate the five core values of our operation:

  1. Safety
  2. Cleanliness
  3. On-Time
  4. Courteous
  5. Efficient

What attributes should a Mystery Shopper have?
Anyone can be a mystery shopper. Good observation and recall skills are helpful.

What area will I be assigned to?
You will not be assigned to any particular area. The flexibility of this program allows you to provide feedback regarding your next trip.

Are there benefits to being a Mystery Shopper?
Being a Mystery Shopper will better help us understand the customer experience and ultimately increase the service we provide to you. The first 1,000 customers to complete and submit their evaluation, will receive a CTA Transit Card with one full fare within 7-10 business days. The Transit Card can be used to pay your fare on any CTA Bus or Train. (Limit one per household, please. Photocopies NOT accepted. Incomplete evaluations are ineligible.)

How will this Information be used?
The CTA will use this information as a tool that fosters change. The information gathered through Mystery Shopping will be integrated into the CTA decision making process and used to track accountability and performance. This joint effort will help us understand where and what we need to improve.

How will my personal information be used?
Your personal information will only be used to provide you with information and material regarding the mystery shopping activity. It will not be used for any other purpose.
