12/22/2009 CTA Adopts New DBE Operating Program The Chicago Transit Board recently approved a new Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program which sets a 25 percent annual DBE agency goal in 2010 for contracts funded out of CTA’s operating budget. An amendment to the Metropolitan Transit Authority Act in 2008 requires the CTA to establish a DBE program for non-federally funded contracts effective January 18, 2010. (More...)
12/22/2009 CTA Budget Approved Without Fare Increase On November 12, the Chicago Transit Board approved a $1.27 billion budget for 2010, which averted a fare increase due to an agreement brokered by Governor Quinn’s office. The budget proposes management efficiencies, elimination of more than 1,100 jobs and service reductions. However, an agreement between the State of Illinois, the Regional Transportation Authority and the CTA will provide enough funding for the next two years to allow the CTA to maintain current fares.
