JUST ANNOUNCED: Take a Special, Bonus Ride on the Allstate CTA Holiday Train as It Travels the Loop Elevated on Monday

December 17, 2021

Start your Christmas week with the fun and magic of a special trip on the Allstate CTA Holiday Train, as it winds around the Loop ‘L’ on Monday, December 20

Breaking news, direct from the North Pole and CTA: To help celebrate the approaching holidays, the CTA has just announced a newly added, special bonus run of the Allstate CTA Holiday Train. The festive train will operate as a shuttle train that will circle the Loop Elevated on Monday, December 20, from approx. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“After another year of ups and downs and uncertainties, we are pleased to make a special announcement : We have arranged with Santa to offer this rare Christmas week opportunity to travel aboard the beloved Allstate CTA Holiday Train, as it circles Chicago’s iconic Loop Elevated,” said CTA President Dorval R. Carter, Jr. “This special Monday run of the festive train is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to all those who helped support our system and city this year by taking public transit whenever possible.”

Before heading out, Santa and his new chief assistant – Ella the Elf – remind riders of the following safety rules to help provide everyone with a safe and healthy holiday season:

  • Face masks are required for everyone, including the elves, no matter your age or vaccination status. Don’t get on Santa’s naughty list!
  • When possible, please socially distance on platforms and aboard the Holiday Train and Holiday Bus.
  • Be courteous, respectful and patient while waiting and boarding.
  • To keep everyone safe, there will be NO photos with Santa.

These special Loop trips will allow the public to ride the downtown ‘L,’ as well as capture beautiful images of the Train – even seen from street level – as its decorative exterior is reflected in the downtown skyscrapers. Those are Instagram moments, for sure!
